According to me “Expert System” computer based system is being used for diagnosis of disease according to the symptoms of disease in patient. An expert system is a computer program that tries to attempt to represent the knowledge of human experts in the form of Heuristics. Expert system is most popular kind of intelligence system.
Following are four major components of expert system.
i. User Interface:-
This enables the doctor to enter instructions and information into expert system to receive output from it.
ii. Knowledge Base:-
It is the source of data base of expert system. It also contains the rules or procedure to describe the logic of problem.
iii. Inference Engine:-
It is the database management system of the expert system. It performs reasoning by using the contents of knowledge base.
iv. Development Engine:-
This is used to create an expert system.

Data Mining is the technique/procedure which is being used by the managers for making marketing strategies. It is also called Knowledge Discovery in Database as in this process large volume of data is automatically searched. The main purpose of this technique is to discover patterns and relationships of different components of the business, past history and prediction of future. In the example given the manager want to make marketing strategies that which product is being sold more and which age factor is purchasing it etc. Data Mining process involves given steps.
i. Exploring:-
In this step data filtering and data transformation is being done so we get only that data in which we are interested. In data base there is huge data and we select specific to save time and cost.
ii. Model Building and Validation:-
In this step various models are used for predictive performance. These models explain the variability in questions and produce stable results within the sample which we have selected in previous step. In each model various patterns of queries are used to discover the new patterns and relations in the data.
iii. Deployment:-
In this last step of data mining the best model selected from previous models and is applied to new data to generate predictions of the expected outcome.
