Entrepreneurship (MGT 602) Fall 2013 GDB No.01 Due Date: 10-11-2013 Marks: 30 TOPIC: The Importance of Educational institutes in stimulating Entrepreneurial propensities among students
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: The prime objective of this discussion is to make students explore role of educational institutions in stimulating entrepreneurial propensities among students with reference to Pakistan. LEARNING OUTCOMES: After attempting this assignment, the students will be able to know:
Scenario In Pakistan there is mushroom growth of universities from which a large number of business graduates pass out every year. It has been observed that most of the students graduating from these universities prefer jobs over business. Most of the students might be getting jobs of their own choice and the rest of students then think for doing something else for earning money. It might be of doing various kinds of business activities but percentage of these students is least observe as compared to those who give preference to jobs. It is inferred from the situation that universities have failed to promote business propensities among students. There might be multiple reasons behind this but the universities are somehow greatly responsible for not stimulating the business propensities. At present Pakistani economy is growing at the average of 4 to 5 percent every year. Thus employment creation process is very slow. Right now universities have to create job creators rather than job seekers. Point of Discussion: Keeping in mind the present scenario, what are the different factors due to which our universities are failed in stimulating entrepreneurial intentions (Provide at least 6 reasons to enrich your discussion)? (30 marks) Student’s Guide 1. Keep your discussion with the mentioned scenario and irrelevant answers and material will not be graded. 2. Be careful from those blogs who are promoting cheating culture among our students and killing their creativity and critical thinking. Answers copied from such blogs will be straight away marked as zero. Similarly any relevant or irrelevant material copied from internet sources will get the same treatment. It can seriously damage your grades.

According to my point of view following are the different factors due to which our universities are failed in stimulating entrepreneurial intentions.
1. Now a days in every institute focus is not on latest trneds, they are still teaching the old concepts old trends
2. There is no practical work in academic session , Teachers focus is just on thoery.
3. 21th Centuary is age of technology and advancement but our courses are still old and no advance way of teaching
4. We always fear from risk taking, so cant become a good enterpreneur
5. Teachers in intitutes are just doing job , they are just teacing the text but not encouraging the studnets for practical life.
6. Every student is focuing on marks/cgpa but avoid from presenation and practical work
